Band Basics

  • A performance group program for beginners ages 7-17

  • Weekly 55 minute rehearsal

  • 16 week (4 month) semester in Fall or Spring

  • 8 week (2 month) session in Summer (DROP INS ALLOWED!)

  • This is an add-on class--private lessons required

Band Basics fall '26 Schedule:

Tuesdays 4:30-5:25pm • 16 week session • 8/25 - 12/15

Fridays 4:15-5:10pm • 16 week session • 8/28 - 12/17

Saturdays 11-11:55am • 16 week session • 8/29 - 12/18

*No rehearsal week of Thanksgiving

"Indie"

Punk rock broke the mould of music business and production with a DIY ethos and shift away from commercial influence.  Teaming up with smaller independent labels, bands were able to enjoy new creative freedoms.  This freedom of expression exploded into a vast landscape of new genres, many of which fall under the umbrella of “indie”.  

 

Spanning the 70s through present day, this realm of music includes a wide range of styles including rock, pop, folk, electronic, funk, soul and more.  We will be exploring both artists releasing music independent from major labels as well as the genre of indie, which focuses more on some of the production, style, and songwriting values more than label relationships.  

 

Get ready to explore an ocean of creativity and expression in the Little Dell Indie band!

About Our Band Programs

At Little Dell Music Studio, we believe that music is meant to be shared with others.


Band Basics is our answer to the need for a beginner performance group without the pressure of an impending performance. 

Band Basics is open to all students aged 7-17 who are totally new to music (suggested 6-12 months of lessons before joining). Rehearsals are 55 minutes weekly, and are lead by a professional musician and music educator. Your child will be assigned a part to play within the ensemble, to learn with their private teacher and practice with the group. 


*Depending on student readiness, there may be a semester-end parent performance.

Little Dell Rock Band is not designed for total beginners; we require that a student has "graduated" from Band Basics or gotten their teacher approval to bypass this requirement. Students will be responsible for learning their assigned parts (with the help of their private teacher!) and should have a consistent practice routine established. 

Rehearsals are 90 minutes weekly, lead by two professional musicians and music educators. Your child will be assigned a part to play within the ensemble, to learn with their private teacher and practice with the group. Song selection and subsequent "casting" will be based on student abilities.

The performance is key! The show will be Sunday, December 20th at time TBD
